blue toucan studios
Blue Toucan Studios is part of MADE ON STATE- an amalgam of artists sharing space, ideas, and skills to become more than we could be on our own. Our studios provide services that include illustration, graphic design, murals, sculpture, framing, and more. Please stop by, we host an open house once a quarter but we’d be happy to meet with you almost anytime.
We have focused on creating Fairy Doors since 2010. Tiny, detailed, and beautiful we’ve taken everything we’ve ever learned and poured it into making these one-of-a-kind pieces for your home or garden.
If you want to pay a visit all of our contact info is at the bottom of the page.
Chris pallace and KEvin serwacki
Chris and Kevin have been producing artwork together since 1999 when they tackled the Horses on Parade project. Since then they’ve made more than 50 publicly displayed sculptures and been featured in galleries and museums including the Strong Museum of Play.
Take our word for it- we look even better in person.
Although our studio is open to the public, you're just a likely to see us at a show near your home town. Especially if you live in Western New York. Since 2010 Blue Toucan has been selling Fairy Doors at the Sterling Renaissance Faire. After that we branched out vending at more and more shows every year. Got a great show in your neck of the woods? Let us know.
what we do and How we do it
Our doors are hand built, hand painted, one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Perfect for all the secret spaces in your home or garden. Place yours somewhere you don’t look everyday. Put them somewhere new, somewhere you’ve never hung other art, somewhere surprising. After all, the fairies are most likely to come through when you’re not looking.
We use traditional wood working techniques without using wood. Komatex, acrylic paint, poured resins, and other materials are used to create our original designs for inside or outside display. Every door is designed and built in our studio here in Rochester, New York.
Fairy Doors range in size from 4 to 9 inches. Priced (roughly) between $10 and $100.
